J.A. Manning Construction Co., Inc. had over 5,400 SF of MSE Walls. With the project being behind due excessive rains prior to our mobilization J.A. Manning worked all available hours to maintain the project deadlines for the girders on the bridge crossing Route 71. Following that J.A. Manning formed poured and stripped over 300 LF of cast in place coping. J. A. Manning also precast over 200 LF of Type B gutter that was also installed directly behind the coping of the MSE Walls.

Route HH and I-29

The Route HH Bridge over I-29 just outside of Platte City, MO built in 1959 needed replacement. The new bridge design called for two MSE wingwalls on either side of I-29 to support the bridge. J. A. Manning Construction was contracting to install over 3,200 SF of MSE Walls with a high level of perched water along the face of the highway ‘v ditched’ drainage system, and over 17 inches of rain during construction. We had to accommodate for excavation cave ins, pumping water, and with access limitations. Due to all of these unforeseen conditions J. A. Manning worked all available hours to maintain the project deadlines for the girders on the bridge crossing Route 71. Following that J.A. Manning formed poured and stripped over 200 LF of cast in place coping.

Darlington Ave and I-44

J.A. Manning Construction Co., Inc. provided a geotechnical analysis that allowed us to design for full height MSE Walls in lieu of cast in place walls. With over 8,000 SF panels precasted and installed, and over 1,400 LF of cast in place coping that had exposed rebars for a ‘T- rail’ to be poured on top of the wall.

193rd and I-44

J.A. Manning Construction Co., Inc. precasted and installed over 64,000 SF of MSE Walls, and over 3,900 LF of coping along I-44 adjacent to live traffic. Due to hard shale footing excavation was extremely difficult, and with right of way limitations access was limited to just 4’ behind the reinforced zone of the MSE Walls. J.A. Manning Construction utilized a conveyor system to optimize the backfill operations of the MSE Walls to meet and exceed the detour deadlines of the project. With our production on the project we regained 1.5 months time to the General Contractor .

TD Ameritrade Ballpark

Installation of over 52,000 SF of MSE Walls with approximately 400 SF of MSE Segmental Block walls. Due to the project conditions, perched water, and shallow water table J.A. Manning Construction Co., Inc. had to utilize a water pump during excavation to the bottom of the wall elevation. With the project being on a Lead zone in Omaha, no onsite soil could be exported, and J.A. Manning had to accommodate for the poor subsoil conditions, and low friction angles within our design. Our design also had to factor an anticipated 7 inches of settlement in a course of 10 years.

Memorial Parkway

J. A. Manning Construction Co., Inc. installed over 74,709 SF of MSE Walls. Due to project right of way limitations, the process of installation had to be accommodated with placing backfill material concurrently with the erection of the walls, and the roadway fill be placed by the General Contractor. This allowed J.A. Manning to maintain the critical path schedule for the project.
