Memorial Parkway, also known as The Parkway, is a major thoroughfare in Huntsville, Alabama that carries over 100,000 vehicles on an average day. In 2008, the Alabama DOT funded the first major expansion project on the South end of The Parkway. The project added overpasses at Whitesburg Drive and Weatherly Road. These overpasses allowed for the removal of two existing traffic lights that added approximately 5 minutes per day to the commuters travel time.

J.A. Manning Construction Co., Inc. was contracted to design and build the new overpass approaches and the elevated portion of roadway between the Whitesburg and Weatherly Road overpasses. The new Highway was elevated 26 ft above the existing roadway for a distance of over 1/4 mile. J.A. Manning used Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining walls to fulfill the project requirements. The project was opened to the public nearly two months ahead of schedule.
